This sweater is from a brand developed by Anne Claiborne who rose to fame from winning a design contest in the 50s. She worked as a deisgner in the city until launching her own brand in the 70s that is mostly discontinued today. Her brand was originally centered on thoughtful tailoring and workmanship, but without excessive ornamentation or overly experimental silhouettes. Liz Claiborne was known for her fondness for "Liz Red" and most pieces have the accent of red.
